Hit shore Road at about 11am, paid my £10 parking fee. Hit the water on 5.3m and Carve with 37cm fin, very overpowered and struggled a lot, felt like I was really fighting the kit. Stuck it out for an hour before coming in for lunch. Hit the water this time on 4.4m and Carve with 28cm fin, underpowered this time, stuck it out for an hour and then came in.
Hit water again back on the 5.3m and Carve with 37cm fin, finally the right kit so had a couple of good runs then heard some creaking noises but thought nothing of it, then when I was a long way from the car I saw the mast was splitting where the extension goes it, nursed it back. The mast was the 400 I had cut down from a 460, I should have strengthened the bottom after cutting it down. Changed to 460 mast and went out again, had a load more good runs, did a massive catapult again and heard a bang and thought I had snapped the front off the board, thankfully just a slight dent but my downhaul pulley had sheared right off so I had no downhaul. Decided to re-rig on the water (out of my depth) by throwing the pulley away and just running the downhaul through the eyelet 3 times, this took a while and I couldnt get much downhaul on but I got enough on to sail in. Another windsurfer turned up to check I was OK which was nice. Back on shore pulled some more downhaul on and hit the water again, had some great runs but wind was dying so I was underpowered. Had some good runs and carved into lots of gybes, only made it out of 2 dry though but the board is awesome and was a good buy for me so I am chuffed. Stayed out until 7:30pm, it was low tide then so had a long walk to the car but it was worth it for such a great day.
